Our Services

Trial Erection

At Carver, we offer comprehensive trial erection and fabrication test services to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and functionality of your structural steel components.

Our in-house trial erections involve the assembly and testing of fabricated steel components to validate their fit, alignment, and structural integrity before final installation. This allows us to identify any potential issues early on, minimising costly delays and ensuring seamless integration into your project.

A look at our recently completed projects…

Trial erection: Optimisation for a smooth installation

An in-house test erection is performed ahead of products arriving at site to ensure they are primed ahead of site erection, further streamlining the installation process.

We’ve built our reputation on providing high quality, efficient solutions, and our extensive testing process is key to our success. We’re able to provide test erection services for standard and custom steel frame structures ahead of dispatch.

As part of this process, we’ll invite you to our facility to monitor progress, witness the manufacturing process and sequence of operations on site.

Ensuring the success of your steel structures

Our skilled technicians meticulously assemble your project’s components according to specifications, ensuring precise fit and alignment.

By identifying any discrepancies early on, we’re able to implement necessary adjustments and optimisations to address them before the final site erection, ensuring your project is delivered on time and within budget.

As part of the trial erection, we perform thorough visual inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT) to assess the integrity of the structural steel and identify imperfections that might compromise performance or durability.

Long-term cost savings

Investing in trial erections can result in long-term cost savings by reducing rework, delays and construction errors.

By verifying the fit and alignment of your design, this allows us to catch issues before they become costly. This means project teams can avoid expensive modifications or retrofits during construction or installation.

We assemble the fabricated components according to detailed engineering drawings in a test environment, which ultimately keeps your budget on track and improves the overall efficiency of the production process.

Frequently Asked Questions

A trial erection, also known as a test assembly or mock-up, is the process of physically assembling structural components in a controlled test environment. This is to simulate their installation to verify their fit, alignment and functionality ahead of full-scale fabrication.

We use the engineering drawings and specifications to physically assemble the components, which may include steel beams, columns, connections and other elements. We then visually inspect and apply loads or stresses to the trial erection to simulate real-world conditions to determine any defects or flaws in the design.

Many of the steel fabrication projects we oversee are highly complex and challenging, and therefore require bespoke solutions. This means testing is critical to ensure customised parts will properly and safely fit together as planned.

Test erections allow for the physical verification of design intent before full-scale fabrication and installation, reducing the risk of having to rework the structure during construction.
